“ On arrival at the mumbi it was busy but we had pre booked, the food we had was exellent pickle tray there was 5 of them and pompedoms chicken tikka masala, chicken madras,veg pilau chips and a garlic nan lubbly jubbly,we also had a bottle of chilli and sauv blanc again very good wine total cost of meal 65.00 next time we are in Kendal we will eat there again.thanks to all the staff for there great attention. ”

Which is why stumbling into Mumbai Indian Restaurant in Kendal is rather like discovering a Taj Mahal replica nestled between a Greggs and a hardware store. From the moment you enter, you're hit with a warm, fragrant cloud that says, quite firmly, “Yes, darling, we use actual spices here. Take a seat, you’ll live again.” And so you do. Service is swift, friendly, and only occasionally confused, which is part of the charm. The staff are as warm as a fresh naan and about as likely to make your day better. They recommend dishes with the twinkle of someone who knows you’re about to cry tears of joy—or possibly chilli. We began with the papadums, of course, because one must respect tradition. They were crisp, light, and came with a mango chutney so addictive it could end marriages. Then came the Butter Chicken, which should really be rebranded as "Hug in a Bowl"—so rich, so creamy, it should come with a cholesterol warning and a small spoon-wielding grandmother who tells you to eat more. My dining partner chose the Vegetable Madras, which arrived with a kick sharp enough to reboot your nervous system and a depth of flavour that whispered sweet nothings to the soul. The Home-Style Spicy Chicken was exactly as advertised: ferociously hot, but in a way that felt like a dare from a beloved cousin—one who’s trying to hurt you, yes, but only because he loves you. The rice was fluffy, the garlic naan chewy in all the right places, and the only disappointment was that we didn’t have four more stomachs. Prices are reasonable—shockingly so, considering the sheer joy being ladled into each dish. In conclusion: Mumbai Indian Restaurant is not just a good local curry house. “ We had an amazing time , we were served with fresh papdoms and exotic mix of chutneys. Food was extremely fresh and delicious, specially garlic naan were the best I have ever had in the UK. Staff was polite and accomodative for all our requests. We ordered butter chicken mild spice for kids but if was a bit sweet, I wondered i should have chosen normal spice. Cheese nan was soft and fresh but wasn't upto the standard of the authentic cheese nan. We were served with mint chocolates in the end which was a great gesture of hospitality. ”
